Rudi Voller insists he has not had any contact with AS Roma officials over Cesare Prandelli's job.
The former Germany coach is being linked with Roma after Prandelli tendered his resignation last week after his wife was struck down with a serious illness.
"I think we need to give Cesare Prandelli time and distance over what he is going through," said Voller yesterday. "I would never approach Roma about coaching there in a situation like this.
"And in any case, I have not had any contact from Roma officials since learning the news of Prandelli's resignation."
He added, "The only conversation I have had about returning to club football is with Bayer Leverkusen."
Along with Voller, sacked Porto trainer Luigi del Neri is also regarded as a likely candidate to replace Prandelli.
